Project overview

This project focused on creating a consistent, responsive account-management experience within Wells Fargo’s digital banking platform. The account summary brings banking, credit, and investment accounts into a unified overview, helping customers review balances, distinguish account types, and access common actions such as transferring money, paying bills, and depositing checks.

The design challenge extended beyond organizing a single screen. The experience needed to accommodate different balance descriptions, account states, screen sizes, and brand treatments while maintaining a recognizable structure. The work included reusable account tiles, promotional content components, portrait and landscape layouts, and a related self-service entry point for account closure.

My role as Lead Product Designer

I led the design of the account-summary experience and its supporting components, defining the information hierarchy, responsive layouts, and interaction specifications. My focus was on making financial information easy to scan while establishing patterns that could be reused across account-management experiences.

I structured account tiles around a consistent hierarchy of account name, masked account number, balance, and supporting information. I defined layout adjustments for smaller breakpoints, hover and active treatments, and unavailable-balance states. I also accounted for Private Bank styling, allowing the visual treatment to change without losing the underlying component structure.

For promotional content, I designed flexible banner patterns with documented spacing, icon placement, calls to action, and carousel controls. The specifications covered variations in content, color, and orientation, supporting consistent presentation across different placements and screen sizes.

My work also included the account-closure entry experience, pairing account balances and clear next-step actions with explanatory guidance. This applied the same emphasis on hierarchy and clarity to a more consequential self-service task.

The central design priority was balancing customer clarity with component reusability—helping customers understand their accounts and take the next action while giving the product a consistent foundation for related banking experiences.
